Marked high by Pikuach

articlemain

Simon Marks Jewish Primary School in Hackney has made "remarkable progress" in its Jewish education, the Jewish inspection service Pikuach has reported.

Whereas the school received a "satisfactory" rating for Jewish studies and Hebrew three years ago, it is now classed as "good" with "some outstanding features".

The inspectors said: "Attention has been given to each of the weaknesses previously identified and in all cases improvement has been noted." The teaching of modern Hebrew was "very effective" and "a strong feature of the Jewish curriculum".

Councillor Linda Kelly, a governor, praised the dedication of head of Jewish education Mark Garfield.
