Supporters of British Friends of Boys Town Jerusalem raised over £9,000 by walking across 16 London bridges. The 12.4 mile course started at Hammersmith and concluded at Tower Bridge.

Samantha Landes completed the walk in nearly six hours with her 10-year-old daughter Georgia. She had been "more than slightly apprehensive about walking such a long distance, but it was truly an exhilarating experience. We loved every moment."

British Friends development director Laurence Stein had his 11-year-old daughter Rebecca for company. "I'm sure there are easier ways of raising money," he said. "I'm 50-years-old, overweight, flat-footed, with a tendency to suffer from gout."

He pointed out that many Boys Town students had made aliyah after experiencing antisemitism in their native countries.
