Senior Muslim officials from the Malaysian government were guests of the London School of Jewish Studies in Hendon.
The visit was arranged through the Muslim College as part of a fact-finding exercise about other faiths and featured a discussion with the school's Rabbi Natan Levy and a tree planting ceremony.
Muslim College programmes manager Shahwiqar Shahin said the Malaysians had found the day educational and enjoyable. They felt they could learn a lot from Jewish communities in the diaspora. "The Jewish community has the Chief Rabbi and the Church of England has the Archbishop of Canterbury, whereas our religion is far more on the individual and each person is responsible for their own actions."
It was important to discuss differences as well as similarities between the faiths, Mr Shahin added. "It's all good and well to talk about positives but the most important thing is to look at the issues and listen to each other."
Rabbi Levy said that topics covered included the Gaza situation. "They have a great interest in the Holocaust and we had a great talk with everyone getting involved."
