The management of Kenton youth and community centre Kulanu will be taken over by Maccabi GB from January 1.
Home to Kenton Maccabi and a number of other youth groups for over 30 years, the 9,000 sq ft building incorporates a sports hall, large meeting spaces and conference facilities. It will be promoted as a multi-purpose centre.
"We have always moved with the times," said trustees' chair David Judah. "Our mission continues to be to serve as a hub of the Jewish community, hosting youth, sporting and cultural activities under one roof." The management deal with Maccabi would "help us deliver our objectives of promoting the development of our youth. We look forward to some innovative programmes."
Maccabi GB vice-chair David Pinnick added that Kulanu was already home to a thriving Maccabi table tennis club. "We have spoken to many of our partner organisations who are interested in using the centre for a variety of products and services. In addition, our strong relationship with the local Jewish schools will create some exciting opportunities."
