Evolution rather than revolution is the goal of the new Maccabi GB chairman, David Pinnick, who succeeds Michael Ziff following his four-year tenure.
By trade an estate agents' managing director, the north London grandfather has been involved in Maccabi activities since playing in its football league from the age of 16. More recently, he was GB's general team manager for the 2013 Maccabiah and an organising committee member for this year's European Maccabi Games in Berlin.
Heartened by the success of Maccabi-organised cross-communal events such as the annual fun run - now involving 50 charities - Mr Pinnick said the organisation would be considering "ways to find additional events and programmes that grab the community's attention".
It currently works with more than 100 partners and "reaches out to over 40,000 people each year via a broad spectrum of sport, health and well-being programmes and events. We want to inspire people to be healthy and active in a uniquely Jewish atmosphere."
