Manchester Jewish Representative Council’s Holocaust education committee has received £6,000 in Lottery funding towards recording the testimony of Shoah survivors.
The money is from a grant programme launched in support of BBC Two’s The Great British Story, giving communities the opportunity to explore, share and celebrate their heritage.
“There are numerous reasons why survivors have not yet recorded their story but some now feel it is the right time to do so,” said Sarah Moise, the daughter of survivors, who will be among the interviewers.
“We want to hear their accounts to ensure their sufferings will not be forgotten.”
All interviews will be archived in Manchester Jewish Museum.
