Merseyside Jewish Community Care is to redevelop its Shifrin House headquarters next year to cater for communal use.
Incoming president Howard Winik told the MJCC AGM that the "exciting project will create a ground floor meeting room with disabled access. We will create a resource that will enable MJCC to pilot new projects where there is an identified need. We will be able to deliver some of our current services on site."
MJCC moved into the premises in 1990 and Mr Winik acknowledged that "major repairs are well overdue. We need to ensure that Shifrin House is fit for the future - our future."
He added that the business plan for 2015-18 would ensure the continuation of core services such as carers' support, lunch clubs, meals on wheels, family work and helping those with mental health or visual impairment issues.
An operating surplus of £34,000-plus was largely attributable to the response to a major appeal in 2013, demonstrating MJCC's reliance on financial backing from the community.
In his report, outgoing president Richard Lewis said the financial support needed to continue as it was "inevitable that our role will expand as we meet the future challenges facing members of our community".
The charity's care team has a caseload of over 450 clients.
