Limmud in sunny Bournemouth

Over 300 people attended a varied Limmud programme in Bournemouth on Sunday.

In addition to a number of local speakers, Rosalind Preston discussed the role of Jewish women in the 21st century, Judge Dawn Freedman reflected on legal issues, Fiyaz Mughal highlighted the rise of the far right and Stephen Pollard spoke on life in the JC editor's chair. Children enjoyed their own programme.

A roaring trade was reported at the marketplace, offering books, music, paintings, prints and ceramics. There was also the opportunity the view a new exhibition for the Bournemouth 200 celebrations, showcasing the contribution of the Jewish community to the life of the town.

Event co-chairs Janet Gee, Heather Gross and Jonathan Kay said the day had exceeded expectations, praising "the dedicated teamwork of a large group of volunteers whose 'can-do' attitude has been inspirational".
