Liberal Judaism has joined the sponsors of one of the country’s top book events, next month’s Sunday Times Oxford Literary Festival.
“The Oxford Literary Festival is growing in importance and scope and we’re thrilled to be part of it,” said Liberal Judaism chairman Lucian Hudson. “Liberal Judaism loves to challenge and be challenged where ideas are being discussed.
“What could be more fitting for the People of the Book than a literary festival? ”
Authors lined up for the festival include Professor Vernon Bogdanor, editor of the new collection, From New Jerusalem to New Labour, and Anthony Julius, author of a history of antisemitism in Britain, Trials of the Diaspora.
Claudia Roden will join Nikos Stavroulakis, restorer of the medieval Etz Chayyim Synagogue in Crete — which has twice been attacked by arsonists in recent weeks — in a session on food and the diaspora.
