Sutton Synagogue minister Rabbi Meir Lev will leave the post in March.
Rabbi Lev joined the Sutton congregation in 2010 and gained semicha from Montefiore College in July 2013. He said that he and his wife, Carol, would be "returning to our home in Israel. It has been a privilege and a worthwhile experience to have served as the minister of Sutton."
Sutton chair Paul Sarfaty said that the rabbi would be missed by the 254 member community. "His chazanut has delighted us for almost five years and we wish him and Carol the best."
The shul is the most southerly of United synagogues, although only 14 miles from central London. It serves a wide area covering outer south London and Surrey.
