Liverpool football legends Phil Neal and Alan Kennedy were back on the pitch this week to pay tribute to former playing colleague Avi Cohen, who died in Israel in December following a road crash.

Neal and Kennedy were part of an Anfield XI which played a team from the local Jewish community at the club's Kirkby academy before a crowd of more than 100.

The match raised £400, with the funds going to the planting of trees in Mr Cohen's name in the Sacks Forest in Jerusalem.

"We've been trying to organise a charity match for a few years but it always fell though before," said Adam Cailler, Liverpool's Jewish community activities co-ordinator.
