The first kosher restaurant in a major UK shopping centre will open in Brent Cross in the spring.

Operating under Federation supervision, The Kanteen will feature an onsite bakery producing bread, bagels and pastries and will also offer a menu of Israeli specialities and mainstream favourites.

Managing director Robert Dallas said he was delighted to offer a kosher dining option to the many Jews who shop at Brent Cross.

A Brent Cross spokesman pointed out: “When we asked our customers what specialist food they would like to see at the centre, the largest response was for a kosher restaurant, so we are very excited about The Kanteen.”

The restaurant will be located next to the Toni & Guy hairdressing salon and will open from 10am to 8pm on Mondays to Thursdays and from noon to 6pm on Sundays.

Its Friday opening hours will be dictated by Shabbat times.
