Special needs charity Kisharon is moving its Stamford Hill base to the Yad Voezer Community Centre to enhance provision of facilities for Jewish adults with learning difficulties.
At an informal open day ahead of the move, parents and carers spoke with staff and viewed facilities including a multi-sensory room, a therapy kitchen and areas for group activities. Some of the visitors were intrigued by the virtual fish tank in the reception of the modern building, which opened in 2011.
The centre also operates a workshop where people with learning disabilities and other needs can help with the making and marketing of a range of spa products.
Both Yad Voezer and Kisharon are committed to helping clients to maximise their independence. Kisharon chief executive Dr Beverley Jacobson said the Yad Voezer building “will provide a high quality base for our services and enable people with learning difficulties to become integrated into the local community”.
