Special needs facility Kisharon has merged the management of its nursery and day school.
And the new principal, Rabbi Yitzchak Freeman, has revealed that the Kisharon Day School in Temple Fortune and the Golders Green-based Tuffkid nursery may be on the move.
The management at Kisharon and Tuffkid has been integrated, with Rabbi Freeman overseeing the running of both sites. Janice Marriott has been appointed assistant head and will have responsibility for the nursery. “We looked at the structure and realised we needed to bring the organisation of the nursery closer to the school, to share expertise and build closer links,” Rabbi Freeman explained.
He said that the day school, which caters for special needs children, and the nursery, which also accepts mainstream youngsters, might one day occupy a single building.
“It makes sense for the nursery to be physically closer to the day school as it would be easier to manage and would help the transition when children move to the day school.” Mrs Marriott, who was the founding headteacher of Tuffkid 10 years ago, has returned after five years in America.
She said that because of the high cost of education in America, “teachers really try to offer the best service and achieve greatness. That’s something we will strive for — to make sure each child achieves their potential.”
Rabbi Freeman reported that “since word has got out about Mrs Marriott’s appointment, we have had a stream of parents requesting to enrol their children for the new academic year.”
