articlemain

An 85-year-old German refugee who came to the UK on the Kindertransport has died after being evacuated from her home following flooding.

Ruth Borger, who had not previously left her Edgware house for 15 years due to illness, died hours later in hospital. Her funeral was at Edgwarebury Lane.

Her cousin Jackie Franks remembered her as "a sweet and funny person. Although she was alone, she liked the family coming around."
