Camden's Electric Ballroom was turned blue and white on Monday evening as more than 600 students and young professionals came out to celebrate Yom Ha'atzmaut with Young JNF and Israel Connect.

The atmosphere was as sparkling as the glowsticks and glitter tattoos liberally distributed by the organisers.

Party-goers attired in the apposite colours waved Israeli flags, dipped into bowls of sunflower seeds and scoffed mounds of candyfloss in a particularly lurid shade of blue.

Along with the venue's much-loved soundtrack of cheesy 1990s pop, the music of Israeli acts including Subliminal and Kobi Peretz - not to mention Eurovision hopeful Dana International - had revellers dancing until the early hours.
