A JFS pupil with a passion for fantasy fiction is hoping that his first novel will be a charitable best-seller.
Daniel Marchant, 14, is the proud author of The Legend of Arthilian, whichhas just been published.

It tells the story of Altholos Greyraven, “a young boy whose innocence is filched when the dark and malevolent Gôràk’s forces destroy his home. He takes it upon himself to halt Gôràk’s malicious actions and return peace to a world in chaos.” A friend, Joshua Kahan, designed the cover.

Daniel has received dozens of orders for the book, which is being sold in aid of Norwood and Pancreatic Cancer UK. “My aunt Angela died of pancreatic cancer nearly two years ago,” he explained. “I was very close to her and I wanted to do something for the charity but I also wanted to do something a bit different to raise money.”

The novel took him five months to write as he juggled his literary work with school, training for his black belt in taekwondo and passing grade five piano.

“It just started to flow and then it turned into a proper book. I have plans for a sequel, too.”
