Jewish Care rolled with the punches in London’s Mayfair — and came out on top by £50,000.

A gentleman’s boxing dinner organised by the charity’s Next Generation committee attracted a boisterous 180-capacity crowd to the Millennium Hotel.

As well as a three-fight bill arranged by boxing impresario Robert Waterman, the sporting theme extended to a silent auction for sporting memorabilia including a boxing glove signed by Muhammad Ali, George Foreman and other heavyweight champions.

Also up for grabs were autographed Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal, Manchester United and Brazil footballing items, and for the musically inclined, a gold disc for U2’s Rattle & Hum album. An end-of-evening auction conducted from the ring gave Arsenal and Spurs fans the opportunity to snap up executive seats to watch their respective teams next season.
