Furthering the link between Glasgow Central Mosque and the city's Jewish community, mosque members visited Giffnock Synagogue on Sunday for a tour and discussions on future co-operation.

Glasgow Jewish Representative Council president Paul Morron said: "There are so many areas in which we can work together and I hope to explore these further. We need to add mutual understanding to strengthen our relationship but I feel our bonds are already strong.

"Our co-operation is a lesson for other communities and this is particularly important considering how many extremist right-wing parties have been elected across Europe recently."

Discussions focused on issues such as welfare, education and politics. The plan is that people from both groups will work together on matters of mutual interest.
