Ilford Synagogue's new building was formally opened before a congregation of over 100, including local MPs Lee Scott and Mike Gapes and Redbridge Mayor Councillor Ashley Kissin.

Synagogue chair Leon Newmark recalled the many years of dedicated planning that preceded the move to Beehive Lane from its long-time Coventry Road premises. He paid particular tribute to the shul's financial representative, Michael Appleby, and board member Alan Truman for their hard work.

Federation Beth Din head Dayan Yisroel Lichtenstein gave the address and the ceremony ended with the presentation to Mr Newmark of the key to the building by the Federation president, Andrew Cohen.
