Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt visited Nightingale House in Clapham last week to witness its dementia work ahead of the first G8 summit on dementia care.

Mr Hunt also elicited the views of Nightingale leaders on how to address the major issues facing UK care homes.
During a tour of the premises, he spoke to resident Betty Weinberg about her time at the home and helped her to bake a cake.

He then joined a group of residents who were making clay star decorations for Chanucah as part of the home’s arts programme. The tour was completed at the Wohl Wing, where Nightingale provides specialist dementia care.
Nightingale chair Harvey Rosenblatt said he had been delighted to show Mr Hunt “best practice in person-centred care. We hope to maintain this position in years to come and act as a role model for the standard of care across England.”
