World Jewish Relief has launched a website allowing supporters to give special occasion or "thank you" gifts to friends and family which will benefit those helped by WJR in 22 countries across five continents.
Instead of buying traditional presents for birthdays and anniversaries, users of the site - www.wjrappedup.org.uk - could, for example, "gift" a food package on behalf of recipients for a Ukrainian family, a pair of glasses for a Moldovan child or access to a mobile health centre in Haiti.
WJR fundraising director Paul Stein said the service would be "the Jewish community's first online charity gifts website.
"People can buy an innovative gift for a friend or family member that will make a huge difference to someone who really needs WJR's support."
Gifts can be selected by occasion, price and country. Gift cards designed by WJR beneficiaries will be sent to the special occasion celebrant.
Alternatively, the site can be used by WJR backers wanting to make a personal donation to a specific aspect of its work.
