A husband and wife were recovering in hospital this week after being run over as they walked home from a synagogue service.

The couple, who have not been named, were struck by a slow-moving silver Toyota in Gainsborough Gardens, Golders Green, at around 5.20pm last Friday. The driver did not stop.

Paramedics and Hatzolah volunteers treated them for serious leg injuries at the scene and both later underwent operations. Police are appealing for witnesses and hope to trace the driver.
