Irish Jews living all over the globe returned to Dublin for a week of activities celebrating Irish Jewish heritage.

The eight-day Irish Jewish Gathering was planned by the local community in association with the Irish Government. The programme was kicked-off by the Irish Jewish Museum with a tribute to the late painter, Harry Kernoff, and there was a film season at the Irish Film Institute.There was also a reception at Dublin’s City Hall and a dinner at the new Dublin Convention Centre hosted by government minister Alan Shatter with Chief Rabbi designate Ephraim Mirvis as guest of honour.

Jewish Representative Council of Ireland chair Maurice Cohen said the week had been “a resounding success” in attracting the Irish diaspora.
