Fostering campaign

articlemain

A Hendon meeting organised to help find a pool of approved foster carers for Jewish children attracted more than 30 people.

Charities including Norwood and Ezer Leyoldos and the fostering services at Barnet, Haringey and Hackney organised the event at Hasmonean Boys' School in response to a pressing need for foster carers within the Orthodox community.

Norwood head of children's services Karen Goodman said afterwards: "We have already been approached by several families interested in becoming foster carers. It is vitally important that Jewish children who are not able to remain with their birth families receive culturally appropriate support."
