Young World Jewish Relief supporters have taken to social media to draw attention to the refugee crisis by making a link to the Jewish refugee experience.
The "My family Were Refugees Too" campaign encourages people to post photos of themselves wearing T-shirts carrying the slogan on social media. They have also been on the streets of Temple Fortune asking shoppers to pose with a giant photo frame.
WJR young committee chair Hannah Layton said it was important to remind people that the current refugees were "no different from our families throughout Jewish history. We know only too well from just 70 years ago what it is like to be a refugee. When WJR launched its refugee crisis appeal, we felt it was imperative that young professionals and recent graduates in our community were given a space to help and support the campaign in an easy and engaging way."
Among those sharing their photos was young committee member Nick Reid, who said: "Social media allows us to reach all of our members instantly and respond to crises as soon as they come about.
"Young people check the social media platforms almost round the clock, so our message is disseminated to everyone almost immediately."

More than £500 was raised at an event organised by the young committee for WJR's crisis appeal, which has generated more than £450,000.
