Jeremy Lawrence has taken up his post as senior rabbi at Finchley Synagogue after nine years as chief minister of Sydney's Great Synagogue.

Originally from the UK, Rabbi Lawrence is a keen educator and is active in interfaith work. He said it was "a great honour" to be succeed Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis at the Kinloss community. "It is an exciting challenge. I look forward to joining its accomplished rabbinic team and bringing my experience to the service of its community."

Shul co-chairs Scott Saunders and Elaine Renshaw said the appointment "ushers in a new era for us and we look forward to moving the community forward together".
