An Edgware primary school has been granted retrospective planning permission despite complaints about noise levels.
Barnet Council approved the application for the Tashbar school to remain in its premises in the Kol Yaacov Synagogue in Mowbray Road, where it has operated since 2006.
Council officials had recommended that the committee reject the application, claiming it would result in increased activity, noise and disturbance.
The application received seven objections, citing noise and traffic problems and potential flooding to neighbouring gardens from the playground. There were 10 letters of support.
It was approved with 19 conditions, including a limit on the number of children enrolled and having new fencing put up around the boundaries.
Tashbar, a few doors down the road from the Rosh Pinah nursery, has 19 children in its nursery, 58 in its primary school and up to 20 students daily in its study centre.
Barnet councillor Brian Gordon, who supported Tashbar's application, said: "I'm delighted, as are many others, that the school can remain. It's a lovely school and does a lot of important work for children in the area."
