Edwina Currie was in feisty form as she chaired a Yorkshire Cancer Research fundraiser based on ITV's Loose Women, which covered topics ranging from the general election to baby boomers.
The former Conservative MP and junior health minister criticised Ed Miliband for looking "sloppy" in the TV election debates. "He was told to stand with his hand in his pocket - to my generation, that looked disrespectful."
In a Westminster reminiscence, she said that to stave off boredom during late Commons sittings, she had joined a rifle club located in the bowels of the building. It was primarily used by police guards, who were amazed by the accuracy of her shooting.
Asked if the best Commons committee to serve on was foreign affairs, she replied that, "as a nice Jewish girl, I would plump for finance".
The panel comprised community members plus two male guests, former rugby league star Keith Senior and BBC crime reporter John Cundy. It raised £4,000 for the charity.
