The annual HMD educational programme organised by Northwood's Liberal and United synagogues attracted more than 2,000 secondary-age students, accompanied by their teachers, from some 40 schools in Harrow, Hillingdon and Hertfordshire. To meet the demand, satellite sessions were held at Bushey, Edgware and Borehamwood and Elstree United synagogues.
Pupils were addressed by survivors in what is claimed to be the largest event of its type in the UK.
