Continuing a Mitzvah Day tradition, Glasgow youngsters removed litter and weeds and washed headstones at the Glenduffhill and Sandymount Jewish cemeteries.

The group at Glenduffhill had an extra mitzvah opportunity when asked to join a funeral party that was short of a minyan.

Other participants collected non-perishable food at Giffnock's two kosher delis for the Edinburgh Cyrenians food redistribution project. Young people also helped out at Cosgrove Care and socialised with Jewish Care clients.

Glasgow activities were co-ordinated by UJIA, whose Joanna Hyman said: "It's really lovely to see the youth engaged with the wider community and they all got a lot out of it. We hope we'll have as many people next year."
