Hackney's Simon Marks Primary has parted company with its after-school club provider after a breakdown in relations.

Mapalim said it had "no choice" but to end its involvement after clashes with acting head Norma Blair-Clayden.

Writing to parents and carers, Mapalim director Sammy Fugler claimed there had been "daily problems" since Mrs Blair-Clayden took over as acting head. "We have had to fight very hard to stop the school introducing charges for Mapalim to use the building, which would have resulted in a 100 per cent increase in fees."

Mrs Blair-Clayden responded with a letter dismissing the allegations as "total fiction. Neither I or anyone associated with the school has made any proposal to charge Mapalim for use of the building for the after-school club. I am frankly amazed at the email that they sent and am asking for an explanation."
