A reshuffled Limmud Scotland leadership is working on a major event for early in 2010.

The new chair is Fiona Brodie, whose community involvements have included the Glasgow Jewish Representative Council, the Scottish Jewish Archives and the Scottish Council of Jewish Communities.

She replaces Evelyn Tiefenbrun, who has taken up the post of regional Limmud co-ordinator.

Citing the more relaxed nature of Limmud’s educational events as a major drawing card, Ms Tiefenbrun pointed out that “by putting on events such as Leonard Cohen tribute nights, we hope to attract Jews who are disaffected with religion and the wider Jewish community.

“Our aim is to bring people one step further along their Jewish journey,” she added.

As for her wider new role, she said that “with the expertise I’ve gained working with teams here in Scotland for the past eight years, it’s great to have the chance of influencing the development of Limmud throughout the UK.”
