Chabad's Hill climb

articlemain

Chabad will have more space for its activities in Buckhurst Hill after securing a rental agreement on a 1,400 sq ft space in Queens Road, in the heart of the Essex town.

The property currently under construction will give Chabad a large multi-purpose room and a much-needed kitchen. The community must now raise £70,000 for fitting out the synagogue and other amenities and to allow flexible use of the facilities.

Rabbi Odom Brandman said that while the Chabad was part of an umbrella organisation, "fundraising is solely our responsibility. We do not receive any subsidies."

He added: "A permanent centre would enable us to reach out with friendship and support to a wide spectrum of west Essex residents, no matter what their faith."
