Chabad rabbi is hailed

articlemain

Lubavitch of Scotland held a sefer Torah dedication and concert on Sunday to mark 45 years since Rabbi Chaim Jacobs became Chabad's Glasgow emissary.

Hundreds of guests attended the celebration at the city's historic Garnethill Synagogue, featuring London's Shabbaton Choir and visiting rabbis Lionel Rosenfeld and Danny Bergson.

A video was shown of the work of Chabad in Scotland, which encompasses a synagogue, kosher food and alcohol provision, youth education and outreach activities.

On Monday, the new scroll was read from during Shacharit at the Chabad shul, and later at a special minyan at Rabbi Jacobs's home. "The love everyone has showered on us this past few days has been phenomenal and very much appreciated," he said.
