Two Jewish Care staff have been honoured in the inaugural Great British Care Awards for London, supported by the Department of Health.

The care trainer prize went to Gill Yentis, the charity's practice development worker for disability and dementia services. Christina Brago-Nimako, social care co-ordinator at Rubens House in Finchley, took the care home activity organiser award.

"I have always loved my job as a trainer and lecturer, but to have this kind of acknowledgement was really wonderful," said Ms Yentis, who has been with Jewish Care for 16 years. "Receiving this award is not just an amazing achievement for me but also an acknowledgement that Jewish Care invests so much in the training of its staff."

Ms Brago-Nimako, who has worked at Rubens House since 1996, said the award had "boosted my self-esteem and confidence. I will continue to support our residents, enabling them to enjoy a full and meaningful life."
