The Chief Rabbi has introduced plans to launch the UK’s first-ever Jewish Matchmaking Movement thanks to a new partnership with Netflix’s Jewish Matchmaking star Aleeza Ben Shalom and World Mizrachi.
At the Chief Rabbi’s Annual Conference this week, relationship coach and matchmaker Ben Shalom joined Chief Rabbi Sir Ephraim Mirvis in announcing their upcoming initiative to help Jewish singles meet one another and, ultimately, create more Jewish marriages and families.
“Strengthening Jewish families is one of the greatest investments we can make in the future of our communities,” Chief Rabbi Mirvis said. “This exciting new initiative, in partnership with Aleeza Ben Shalom and World Mizrachi, will bring renewed focus, energy, and expertise to the vital task of Jewish matchmaking.”
Ben Shalom, who partnered last year with World Mizrachi to launch the Jewish Matchmaking Movement, has been on a mission to forge a global, community-based matchmaking initiative to gives Jews everywhere opportunities to meet their bashert. According to an interview Ben Shalom gave World Mizrachi, the initiative would see experienced matchmakers placed in every Jewish community, not only to make matches but to make matchmakers: “Training the entire community how to make shidduchim.”

“Just like there’s a rabbi and rebbetzin in every community, soon there is going to be a matchmaker in every community as well,” Ben Shalom said in a clip shared on social media on Thursday. “The Jewish Matchmaking Movement is coming to the UK.”
According to the Office of the Chief Rabbi, details will soon be announced about a live event during which Ben Shalom will share her expertise on establishing and sustaining happy and successful marriages, and there are plans to introduce training, delivered by Ben Shalom, in the sensitive art of making successful introductions.
“My hope is that it will bring joy to many and, more importantly, that it will help to lay the foundations for countless vibrant Jewish families for years to come,” Chief Rabbi Mirvis said.
Further details about the Jewish Matchmaking Movement UK will be made available in the coming months.
