Telephone lines were kept busy when more than 1,000 phone calls were made by 20 volunteers to members of Glasgow's Jewish community asking them to donate money to ensure the survival of Cosgrove Care's support services.

Walter Hecht, Cosgrove Care's chief executive said: "We do appreciate the number of requests people receive from charities and this year, as in previous years, we have been amazed by the community's generosity."

Fundraising executive Sharon Kaye said: "We are really pleased with how successful Sunday proved to be. We would like to thank the community for their generosity and all our amazing volunteers who made the day such a success."

Cosgrove Care is a charity that specialises in providing personalised support and care services for children and adults who have learning disabilities, autistic spectrum disorders, and mental health problems living in and around Glasgow and East Renfrewshire.
