The jLiving housing association has started work on a £1.6 million project to build 10 flats at Wolfson Court in Golders Green. They will add to the nine apartments constructed at Wolfson Court last year.
Each of the one-bedroom flats will be built to mobility standards with lift access and energy efficient communal heating and hot water.
The work is due to finish early in 2017 and the new tenants will be supported by a scheme manager.
They will be encouraged to participate in events in the communal lounge, or take advantage of the services offered by Jewish Care in the neighbouring property.
Chairman Bradley Reback said the development was timely "when quality sheltered housing is in such demand. Now in our 50th year, jLiving continues to explore possibilities for further new homes and ways to serve the community."
The builders will provide a representative to liaise with the existing tenants during the construction period.
