Brighton home result delights Progressives

articlemain

After four years in temporary accommodation, Brighton and Hove Progressive Synagogue moved back into modern, redeveloped premises with a day of Shabbat activities involving around 300 people.

Chair Peter Bennett Speck said the building was "a tangible representation of the truly inclusive and Progressive vision that Rabbi Elli Tikvah Sarah has spent the last 15 years tirelessly working towards making a reality".

Rabbi Sarah said it was "a joy to embark on a new adventure in the life of the synagogue".

Events during the day included a study session, Israeli dancing and affixing the mezuzot throughout the building.

The celebrations were joined by Liberal Judaism chief executive Rabbi Danny Rich, who found it "very fulfilling, very joyful and very moving to see the synagogue so beautifully redeveloped and restored.

"Everyone involved should be proud of what has been accomplished."
