Boxing very clever

articlemain

David Baddiel added some comic punch to a boxing dinner in central London which raised £160,000 that Norwood and the Paskin Children's Trust will share.

As well as the comedy and the fights, veteran boxing coach Lenny Hagland was presented with the Henry Cooper Award in recognition of a 20-year contribution to the sport and the community. Boxing committee co-chairs Lee Koffman and Robert Waterman said: "We're delighted we raised so much money."

In a busy fundraising week for Norwood, the charity also brought in a record-breaking £230,000 from its Young Norwood property awards, attended by 700 guests.

The awards celebrate the achievements of property professionals aged under 35. Speakers included Nick Leslau, who told supporters that helping "vulnerable children, families and people with learning disabilities is a tremendous gift and one you should be very proud of.

"It's easy to be generous when things are going well but much harder when they are not. Outstanding charities such as Norwood have to keep going."
