Twenty World Jewish Relief supporters kept their charitable intentions in the dark by participating in Nightrider, a 100km nocturnal cycle through the streets of London.

They were among 1,000 cyclists who set out at midnight from Alexandra Palace on a route taking in landmarks such as Tower Bridge, Canary Wharf, the London Eye, the Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace.

WJR rider Sam Shaerf, 28, found it "a new and exciting challenge. I strongly believe in WJR's approach so I was thrilled to be able to support their work with communities in need."

Anna Dangoor, 30, completed the course in nine hours 35 minutes. "It sounded like something fun and different to do," she said.
