A Prestwich girl has won a national ice-lolly competition to build a £15,000 dream youth den at Manchester Maccabi after receiving hundreds of thousands of online votes.
Abigail Stephens, 12, entered the Design a Fab Den competition by Fab ice lollies and was announced as the overall winner from 4,000 entries. The competition asked youngsters to submit their designs to transform a local community centre.
The King David High School pupil won the most online votes for her multimedia, ice-lolly-themed den which includes a sofa in the Fab colours.
"I'm delighted that my dreams for the den will now come true," she said.
Manchester Maccabi chairman Bradley Feld said Abigail's den could be purpose-built after the club has been granted planning permission for an open-plan indoor extension. "We aim to raise sufficient funds to build that."
