A-stars but no uni place

articlemain

Haberdashers' Aske's pupil Josh Goodman achieved A-stars in A-level physics, history, Latin and maths.

But the Stanmore 18-year-old will be filling in his Ucas form again this autumn after being rejected by Cambridge University.

"It's a little bit frustrating that I did so well and don't have a place," said Josh, who applied only to Cambridge. "But it was a risk and I have come to terms with it. I always knew I was going to take a gap year so I could reapply if needed." He will be applying to a number of universities second-time around and hopes his results "will give me a leg up".

Josh will soon be setting off on FZY's gap year programme in Israel.
