A ceremony to launch the £25 million rebuild of Liverpool’s King David campus was held on Tuesday in the presence of Chief Rabbi Lord Sacks.

The scheme will improve facilities at the high school and relocate the primary and kindergarten sections plus Harold House community centre to the high school’s Childwall site. It is part of the government’s Building Schools for the Future programme, with funding also coming from the King David Foundation.

Keith Turner, Liverpool City Council’s executive member for education, said: “The changes will help King David to become a focal point for the Jewish community in Liverpool and will further meet the demands of a 21st century curriculum.”

Max Steinberg, chair of the Campus Group at King David was “delighted that our vision is now becoming a reality. The development will be a major asset.” Liverpool Jewish Housing Association chair Alan Tinger also spoke.
