100-year-old drives to his JDA party

articlemain

David Stellman has become the first member of the UK Jewish deaf community to celebrate a 100th birthday, according to the Jewish Deaf Association.

The JDA member drove himself and his partner, Joan Weinberg, 85, to the association's Finchley centre for a party with friends, staff and volunteers.

Mr Stellman worked in his father's Hatton Garden jewellery business. He has a son from his 57-year marriage to his late wife, Lily.

An Arsenal fan for over 75 years, he still attends matches, and the club threw him a VIP celebration before the game against Everton.

His recipe for longevity? "I have never smoked, or drunk alcohol. I kept fit by playing tennis and went on rambles. I never worry too much and am just happy."
