A charity chief executive has been shortlisted for a prestigious award for raising awareness of women's cancer.
Robert Music, of Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust, has been selected for the Third Sector Awards, which recognise organisations and leaders from across the charity sector.
He said he was "delighted" to be nominated and had no idea he had been put forward by his colleagues.
Mr Music, who is a member of Muswell Hill Synagogue, joined Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust in 2008 as its only full-time employee. Under his leadership, he has overseen the growth of the UK's only dedicated cervical cancer charity to a team of 20 staff and increased income from £149,809 to an anticipated £1.7 million in 2016/17.
He said: "When I joined I saw the need for more information and awareness as it is a largely preventable disease."
Mr Music regularly consults with health minsters as well as the administrators of screening programmes to encourage policy changes to make testing for the disease more accessible.
He said: "We are a very small charity but because of our growth we are making a lot of noise at policy level."
The winners of the awards will be announced on September 14.
