Watch out Giorgio Armani. Aspiring young fashionistas are playing stylist thanks to a novel charity initiative launched by clothing entrepreneur Caroline Kendal.
A mother-of-three, Mrs Kendal, who founded online childrenswear company MiniWardrobe, has come up with The MiniDresser. It enables children - and adults - to choose from a selection of brands and styles to create a personalised outfit.
Their creation can then be shared on Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites. Plus, celebrity chef Jamie Oliver's wife Jools and Gordon Ramsay's wife Tana have agreed to design an ensemble, which will be auctioned off for a children's charity of their choice.
A former lawyer, Mrs Kendal, 39, tells People that children are becoming increasingly interested in fashion. "Kids are spending so much time online today and we wanted to inspire creativity among them, and come up with something that was fun and also educational."
Launched last month, the site is already proving popular. She says: "Now children's virtual clothes shopping has come to life. Because we aim to provide the broadest range of looks and styles we feel that our collections could provide a great basis for inspiring our customers' creativity, and developing fashion sense in children." Mrs Kendal lives in north London.
