Cambridge students brand Israel a rogue state

articlemain

Students at Cambridge University have voted overwhelmingly that Israel is rogue state.

A debate at prestigious debating society, the Cambridge Union Society, which put forward the motion “This house believes that Israel is a rogue state” was passed last night by 51 per cent to 19 per cent against and 30 per cent abstaining.

President of the Board of Deputies Vivian Wineman was on the panel at the packed debate with Yachad director Hannah Weisfeld, think tank deputy director David Lewin and anti-Israel activist Ben White.

Mr Wineman said: “Although barely half the participants supported it, I’m disappointed that this motion was passed. Israel is an outstanding success story considering the difficult circumstances in which it finds itself, and we have to continue to get that message across.”
