BT chief to join government

BT chief executive Ian Livingston is to become trade minister, Prime Minister David Cameron has announced.

Mr Livingston, 48, will be given a peerage and will take on the ministerial role at the start of 2014.

Glasgow-born Mr Livingston has spent five years running BT and has overseen substantial investment in the company.
